What is The Infinite?
The Infinite is an experiment in what happens when a private human question encounters genuine randomness and centuries of written thought.
You hold a question, choice, problem, possibility or thought in your mind. The app does not ask you to type or speak it. When you begin a reveal, randomness selects a book from the collection and then one eligible passage from within that book.
Does the app know what I am asking?
No.
Your question remains in your mind. The Infinite does not record, transcribe, analyse or transmit it, and it does not use your question to search for a matching passage.
Does AI choose or write the passage?
No.
The passage comes from an existing written work. The app does not generate an answer, interpret your question, or rank passages for relevance.
How is a passage selected?
The selection is book-first. One eligible book is selected uniformly from the collection. Then one eligible passage is selected uniformly from within that book.
This means books receive equal weight at the first stage. A short eligible book has the same first-stage chance of being selected as a very long eligible book.
Where does the quantum randomness come from?
The Infinite uses quantum-origin randomness from The Australian National University through a protected backend service.
You can read more about the system, including its limits, on the Why Quantum Randomness? page.
What happens if the quantum service is unavailable?
If the protected online quantum service cannot be reached, The Infinite can fall back to cryptographically secure randomness generated on the device and use its offline collection.
The app identifies the randomness method used for the reveal rather than pretending an offline fallback was quantum-generated.
Can The Infinite work offline?
Yes, with a smaller offline collection.
When the online collection and protected quantum service are available, the app can use the much larger Full Collection. When offline, it can still perform a reveal from the collection stored on the device using secure local randomness.
Can I save a passage?
Yes. Passages can be saved to your Library. The Journal can also be used to record your own reflections.
Saved passages, journal entries and your app preferences are local user data. More detail is available in the Privacy Policy.
Why does the app contain advertising?
The free version of The Infinite uses restrained advertising to help support the cost of operating and maintaining the app.
Advertising is handled through Google Mobile Ads and its consent system where required.
Can I remove the ads?
Yes. The app includes a one-time Remove Ads purchase. Once the entitlement is active, advertising is removed from the app.
Can I change how The Infinite looks?
Yes. The app includes several appearance choices, including Magic, Dark, Light and Old Book, as well as a Custom option that can use an image you choose from your device.
Is The Infinite an oracle or prediction service?
No.
The Infinite does not claim that quantum physics predicts the future, that random events carry messages, or that a revealed passage is objectively an answer to your question.
You may experience a passage as relevant, surprising, moving, coincidental or meaningless. The interpretation belongs to you.
Should I use it to make important decisions?
The Infinite is a reflective and exploratory experience, not a substitute for professional, medical, legal, financial, safety or other expert advice.
For important real-world decisions, use appropriate evidence and qualified professional guidance.
I found a problem. How do I get help?
If something is not working, or if you want to report a problem with a passage, purchase, advertisement or other part of the app, contact JCapps Digital.
Email: [email protected]
When reporting a technical problem, it helps to include your device type, operating-system version, what you were doing when the problem occurred, and a screenshot if one is useful.
Where can I read the Privacy Policy?
The current policy is available at theinfinite.jcappsdigital.com/privacy/. It is also linked from within the app.
Your question remains yours.
The passage already existed.
The interpretation is up to you.
